The BAB Group's roots in accounting go back further than the firm itself. Chris's father — and Hugh's uncle — Bill Brumlow spent his career doing exactly what we still do today: helping people understand what their numbers actually mean. That foundation shaped how we think about this profession, long before The BAB Group existed.

The BAB Group was co-founded by Chris, his wife, Shelia, and Chris's cousin, CPA Hugh Bishop.

Chris's path to the firm didn't start in accounting. He spent years in Fortune 50 corporate roles — Eastman Kodak, Best Buy, Ricoh — before starting a few businesses of his own, including a lifestyle apparel brand and an outsourced accounting platform. That mix of corporate discipline and small-business risk-taking is what eventually brought him back to the family business, when his father fell ill.

Shelia brought over 20 years of her own experience in marketing, small business ownership, and community leadership, along with a degree in Marketing and Communications from Florida State. She leads client engagement and business development at The BAB Group today, and that same relationship-building instinct — knowing how to guide people toward what they actually need — has shaped how we work with clients from day one.

Hugh brought his own 20+ years in public accounting to the table, with a focus on tax strategy and resolution — along with a career in corporate leadership, the kind of hands-on experience that made him the natural partner to build this with.

Where Brumlow and Company was one CPA serving a community, The BAB Group is a proactively focused team — wealth management, accounting, tax and tax strategy, all under one roof — built for a generation of clients who need more than compliance.
